Nephrology for children at MY CLINIC

At our nephrology outpatient clinic, we diagnose and treat acute, chronic, and congenital diseases of the kidneys and urinary tract in children and adolescents up to the age of 18. We also deal with bedwetting and other forms of incontinence. We monitor newborns and infants with congenital kidney and urinary tract problems.

Depending on the given problems and the results of an initial examination, we also work with an urologist or paediatric gynaecologist.

The most common difficulties indicating the need for a nephrological examination

  • Pain the abdomen, lower abdomen, or hip area
  • Frequent passage of small amounts of urine, usually accompanied by a burning sensation
  • Dark-coloured urine (presence of blood)
  • Swelling, usually accompanied by overall symptoms (fatigue, lack of appetite, headache, pain in the abdominal or hip area, nausea, vomiting, weight loss, growth disturbance, etc.)

An examination is also advised in the case of "healthy children" who have siblings with a proven congenital developmental defect or parents with serious kidney or urinary tract disease.

The diseases or disorders we treat most often include

  • Acute and chronic urinary tract infections
  • Congenital developmental disorders of the kidneys and urinary tract
  • Abnormal urine test results
    • hematuria (blood in the urine)
    • proteinuria (protein in the blood)
  • Urinary tract disorders related to daytime and nighttime incontinence (including bedwetting)
  • Vesicoureteral reflux
  • Nephrolithiasis (kidney stones)
  • Kidney cysts
  • Glomerulopathy
  • Chronic renal insufficiency
