Radiography diagnostics at MY CLINIC

Radiology/radiography

Radiology is a medical speciality in which medical imaging (especially ionizing radiation based imaging) is used to diagnose diseases. We conduct examinations using the latest Siemens direct digital imaging technology, which is directly linked to the other specialised medical facilities at MY CLINIC. This eliminates the need to travel far and lets you receive comprehensive medical care in one place.

Radiographic examination

Radiography is one of the most important medical imaging methods and exploits the power of X-rays to pass through matter. A typical examination provides images of a specific area of the body in black and white without the need for prior preparation of the patient. The method has a wide variety of uses in various areas of medicine including orthopaedics, surgery and internal medicine.
Contrast agents are not used in radiography at our clinic.

Large doses of X-rays can be harmful but the amount of radiation that a patient is exposed to by routine radiographic imaging is negligible. To give you an idea, flying from New York to Tokyo and back would expose you to 200 micro Sv of radiation, which is a low dose, safe even for a baby, and that is equivalent to taking 100 X-rays of your lungs.

Examination procedure

The examination is easy and painless for the patient and does not require special preparation.  All you need to do is cooperate with the radiology assistant, who will give you full instructions and ensure that you are in the right position standing or lying down. The exact examination procedure depends on the part of the body to be examined, the most frequent being imaging of the lungs, upper and lower limbs, spine, skull and abdomen.

It is important for the examination to obtain the sharpest image possible. You will therefore be asked not to move or to hold your breath for a certain period while remaining in the required position. One or more images may be taken depending on the type of examination.

You may be asked to remove any clothing that interferes with imaging of the relevant body part. All jewellery and piercings must be removed before the examination.
