November is the month of the international MOVEMBER initiative to increase awareness of prostate cancer and men’s health in general.

Prostate cancer is one of the most dangerous forms of cancer in men. Every year, almost 8000 get it, which is three times more than 20 years ago. But regular preventive check-ups can reduce this risk significantly.

We recommend a visit to to our urology clinic, where specialist will perform a physical examination of the abdomen and prostate, an ultrasound scan of the prostate and testicles, and take a blood sample for prostate-specific antigen (PSA). At our clinic, urological examinations are performed by Dr Markéta Matějková, FEBU, a leading specialist in her field whose accomplishments include being the first Czech woman to obtain a console surgeon’s certificate for the Da Vinci robotic system, which is most often used for surgery involving the prostate, kidneys, and bladder.
